The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art regrets to announce the postponement of our international touring exhibition The Ironic Turn. Originally scheduled to take place at MOCCA from January 15th to February, 22nd, 2004, the exhibition has been re-scheduled to June/July 2004, with precise dates to be announced shortly. The Ironic Turn will take place, as scheduled, at the Owens Art Gallery at Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick from March 12 to April 9,  2004.

Guest Curated by Lelah Ferguson and Ruediger Bender, and featuring significant work by prominent and established Canadian artists, The Ironic Turn was presented at the Kunstalle Erfurt, Erfurt, Germany, (July 6 to August 24), and faux-mouvement in Metz, France, (September 26 to November 30), in 2003, where the exhibition was enthusiastically received both critically and publicly.

The postponement of The Ironic Turn is due to circumstances resulting from MOCCA’s exciting and ongoing project to re-locate our facilities from the North York region of Toronto to the downtown core. As of this date the location and timetable for a move is not yet confirmed. Please refer to the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art website at www.mocca.toronto.on.ca for information regarding MOCCA’s potential move and for updated information on The Ironic Turn.

The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art sincerely regrets any inconveniences or misunderstandings related to the re-scheduling of The Ironic Turn.

The Ironic Turn exhibition, tour and publication are supported in part by Toronto Culture, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, Thueringer Ministerium fuer Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst, Stiftung Kulturfonds Berlin, and Sparkasse Mittelthueringen.
