Stefan Hoffmann
brand-new Presented in collaboration with Printopolis: international symposium on printmaking, presented by Open Studio
Oct 21, 2010 - Oct 31, 2010

Stefan Hoffmann is a German-born artist based in Rotterdam. Using
water-based inks, Stefan screenprints directly onto various surfaces
including windows, walls and billboards. Drawing upon imagery including
pictograms, medical illustrations and 17th century emblem books, he also
incorporates visual elements sourced from each working location. Every
project involves a gradual evolution of imagery through the combining of new
and existing screens, allowing the public to follow the creative process
over time.

Printopolis is a four-day symposium with an international focus on
contemporary printmaking being presented by Open Studio and held in Toronto,
Canada, October 21 – 24, 2010. Printopolis will feature issue-based panel
discussions/presentations, artist talks and printmaking demonstrations and a
Keynote Address by Colombian curator José Roca. This citywide event will
feature exhibitions highlighting contemporary print media works on display
throughout Toronto.
