The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, (MOCCA), is pleased to present Demons Stole My Soul: rock ‘n roll drums in contemporary art, taking place in our galleries from June 3 – July 3, 2005. The exhibition includes works by Canadian and international artists who have incorporated the standard western drum kit into their arts practice. The visual component of the exhibition is accompanied by an exciting concert series, a panel discussion and a youth drum workshop! The concert series includes solo performances by world renowned Dutch improvisational drummer Han Bennink, Cryptopsy’s drummer Flo Mounier known for his blistering speed and technical brutality, and experimental jazz drummer Jesse Stewart.   A special evening performance by Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid and an afternoon panel discussion on music and contemporary art, co-presented by MOCCA and Drake Hotel, will take place on June 18th at The Drake Hotel. Panelists include Ron Gaskin, Martha Ladly, DJ Spooky,     Ben Portis, Jeff Rogers, Jowi Taylor, and moderator Eliza Griffiths.
The exhibition and events are supported by Drake Hotel, Jan K. Overweel Ltd.,
